ElephantDrive's online backup service is easy to use and offers a ton of features. At $9.95 per month for 100 GB, Elephant Drive’s pricing is comparable to their competitors. We also liked that ElephantDrive offers file-sharing capability and that their professional plans allow you to back up a computer running a server operating system. With their “Restore Wizard,” you are able to restore any file you may have accidentally deleted.

ElephantDrive’s online backup service gives you downloadable software that makes copies of your files and uploads them over the Internet to their storage servers. After your initial backup, ElephantDrive runs continuously in the background of your computer, performing automatic, incremental backups. Incremental backups save you bandwidth by saving a file only when it has been altered or created as opposed to repeatedly backing up your entire system.

ElephantDrive also allows you to store multiple versions of the same file so that, when performing a restoration of files, you can access a range of file versions as opposed to just your most recent saved copy. They also offer a streamlined file sharing service and a “Restore Wizard” program that guides you through the process of restoring lost files. You can restore these files for an indefinite amount of time. ElephantDrive is compatible with both Windows and Macs, and they have a smartphone and tablet app for Android.

Professional Options

In addition to ElephantDrive’s personal plan, they also offer a business plan upgrade that doesn't require you to re-upload your files. ElephantDrive offers a 15-day free trial of these professional plans. With their business plan, you get many more features suited towards a small business, such as administrator control and the ability to backup computers operating on server operating systems. On any of their Enterprise plans, you can have multiple users, with a maximum of 50 on their highest account. They charge $25 per month for 50 GB, $115 per month for 250 GB and $215 per month for 500 GB. With an Enterpise plan, you also receive customer phone support Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. PST.

Customer Support

Under testing, we found ElephantDrive to have above average customer support due to their FAQs, forums, tutorials, and a searchable knowledgebase, which we found to be very helpful. For their "Business" plans, you can reach their customer service via phone support. However, the lack of phone and live chat support for their Lite plans is why they didn't receive a "High" ranking in this category. The only support they offer for this level of plan is email support.

ElephantDrive Inc. has been in business for six years, which indicates that they are a stable company.  This very important to consider when evaluating an online backup solution as you want to pick a company that is reliable. They use AES 256 bit encryption to secure your files as they are transferred.

ElephantDrive offers one personal plan of 100 GB for $9.95 per month. If you pay for a year of service, you can receive a discounted price of $99.50 for a year of service, which breaks down to two months free. At roughly 10 cents per GB, this is less expensive than our Market Standard of 15 cents per GB. ElephantDrive also offers a free personal plan with up to 2 GB. As mentioned above, their professional plans start at $25 per month for 50 GB.
